Portraits of the much revered late abbot Luang Phor Koon are featured on jackets from a street fashion giant.

Thailand’s Ban Rai Temple has confirmed that it has granted a street fashion giant permission to use portraits of the much revered late abbot Luang Phor Koon on its jackets.

Temple official Tawatchai Saenprasit told ThaiPBS World on Thursday that a brand representative visited the temple and expressed appreciation for the life of the late abbot. The temple’s committee agreed to allow them to feature both Luang Phor Koon’s portrait and his signature yantra on their garments.

Rumours of a clothing collection, which would feature the abbot, first hit Thai social media in February.

Fans of the brand were excited that a Thai Buddhist entity was collaborating with a fashion giant. The enthusiasm quickly calmed after Ban Rai Temple announced that it would take legal action against the company for failing to seek permission prior to the launch.

No such thing as Buddhist principles in Thailand. You just have to look how many low lifes go into the Monkhood here. Cash donated, usually by those less well off in the belief of a better next life is just a con system for the Monks to accumulate wealth, you only have to look at recent history for that to be proven.

L.P. Koon would be highly ticked off.

And the chance of that big, big lottery win.

win, win, lucky, lucky.   only 120 baht a ticket.

Miranda Priestley would cringe and purse her lips.

But maybe it's time to bring out my Jesus t-shirt again, as well as my Shoko Asahara hoodie and  Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi necktie.

"The American clothing brand Supreme is under fire for using an image of a revered monk as well as several Buddhist “yant” designs on a line of shirts they’re calling “Blessings Ripstop Shirt.” Thailand’s National Office of Buddhism says they plan to submit a letter to the clothing company for using the image of the well-known and respected monk without permission and explain why the use of the image is inappropriate" ..........."The late monk Luang Phor Koon Parisutho of Wat Ban Rai in Nakhon Ratchasima was widely popular in Thailand. Many believed the amulets and talismans were magical and could even protect the some from gunshots"

Yes total hypocrisy again   just like the  fury over shoes and socks with  the Thai flag on them  but perfectly ok for Thais to wear shoes, socks even underpants with other nations national flag on them

in one case of  "idiots outraged" the socks  where just  red white and blue stripey socks !!!

Where can I order?

I take one for me, mom, dad, 3 brothers, 4 sisters, their kids, neighbours etc.

I could place an order of 5469 pieces for a starter.

They gave them the idea and now, the think-tank, hub-centre of Thailand want a slice of it.

Kinda hard to get worked up about this.

How is it different from all the other items commemorating famous monks, like amulets?
