Giant fungus?

Featured Replies

This was found in my wife's orchard today, there was only one in the vicinity and none of the work crew had ever seen one before.

It was about 30cm (12") across.

We have a few in Thai called Book?

Smells like dead bodies and will attract a lot of flies.

Believe it or not some people eat them but not in this stage.

This flower and the smell will only last for a few days, the flower will dry up and shrink

and the leaves and stem will start to grow.

This is the family,

Thanks for that, I thought it was a fungus but did not see it personally.

Here's a better photo.

I'm not convinced that it is a Titan Arum... looks more like a species of fungus.

Does it stink?

Taoism: shit happens

Buddhism: if shit happens, it isn't really shit

Islam: if shit happens, it is the will of Allah

Catholicism: if shit happens, you deserve it

Judaism: why does this shit always happen to us?

Atheism: I don't believe this shit
