May 21, 200719 yr We are readying possessions for shipment to CM for retirement. Have a lot of artwork that is currently in frames. Wondered how expensive it generally is to get basic framing done in CM, as removing pictures from frames for shipping might be easier and prove to be cheaper than shipping in frames. Thanks- JOHN
May 21, 200719 yr you get what you pay for I guess - but i got some framing done at Walarot market and it was very reasonable - we got a tea-towel framed for something like 400 baht.
May 22, 200719 yr I was in the same situation a year ago and didn't consider for a second having my artwork shipped. I stripped all (20 pieces) out of the frames (most are lithographs) and rolled with care into an oversize cardboard tube and shipped across as checked baggage. I paid in the region of 800-1,200baht a piece to get them reframed. I used a shop that was recommended by the local gallery and was well pleased with the results and they make stretchers as well as frames. I am not at home at present but will mail details of the shop later if you require. If you know Chiang Mai I can give directions.
