  Its been such a  long time ! This is from a previous post !

Yes, For the first time,they send you a verification txt code to the phone on file.

 

I installed  and registered my Yubico 5 NFC  today !

1. I went to Yubico's website and verified that it was genuine,

by inserting it in the USB ,soon after the Yubico ok it.

2. I went to B Of America site and had to get a code and use my pin to my debit card ,to initiate the verification process ! I followed the next  prompt. 

3. I pressed the button on the key and a screen came up ,

Security key was successfully added

What do you mean?

 

To purchase, register and start using the key? No.

 

To register and use it with BofA? Yes, possibly. You'll need to be able to login to your account, which I think requires 2FA, and which, without a SafePass card might require SMS.  You have a BofA account? You can log-in to it today, from Thailand?

I registered my key with BofA; simple, easy, works.

 

I needed to receive an SMS with a code, also had to enter my ATM card's PIN, to process the key registration but that's because I have 2FA turned on for log-in. You are directed to log-in when you start the key registration process.

 

You may just need to enter the ATM card PIN? That's a guess. Or maybe nothing.

I do not have a U.S. phone number.

 

What can I do?

 

My local SCB branch stopped accepting checks.  That was a new manager.  Maybe now.

Did you ever have a safe pass card ?

Also when you opened your BofA account you needed a phone # ,I believe  ! What happen to that!

Agree, mine worked fine for about two weeks and then died.   Now, I use the SMS passcode option.

FIDO  USB  Security Key  ?

I have 2, one model is USB C and works with the BOA website on my Apple iPad and my 2018 MacMini. The other model I purchased is USB A to work with legacy devices. Both of mine were purchased on EBAY by a company MFG FEITIAN. They were relatively inexpensive. The BOA website will allow you to register two devices.
