BANGKOK (NNT) - The government has assured that anyone who suffers side-effects after receiving a COVID-19 vaccine will be able to get treatment at private hospitals without being charged.

Department of Health Service Support (DHSS) Director-General Dr. Tares Krassanairawiwong said the Public Health Ministry has officially declared COVID-19 to be an emergency disease, which means every COVID-19 patient is entitled to free treatment at hospitals until they recover.

He said the DHSS has revised its announcement to include people who suffer side-effects, as the upsurge of new COVID-19 cases has created the need to achieve rapid herd immunity through COVID-19 vaccinations.

Dr. Tares added that the latest announcement also added disbursements for transferring COVID-19 patients by air and sea, and PPE for health workers.

May I ask the obvious?

Quite an easy undertaking to make when so few have had the vaccine.

As long as you can prove it was the vaccine... nice try.

Everyone?

My guess is as soon as the first farang shows up with an adverse reaction that "everyone" statement will be retracted and replaced with "Thai citizens" and perhaps "migrant workers."
I wonder when vaccine manufacturer's indemnity meets insurance company's underwriting department's with Khun foreigner caught between a vaccine adverse reaction and a hard place.  Vaccine manufacturers will say, "Tough ****, and insurance companies will say, "Not covered you signed a waiver" and the Thai government will say, "We didn't mean you farang."

This family will wait until the Thai government forces us to vaccinate at the threat of expulsion or jail and at least we'll have someone to sue for what good it will do.
