72 hour CV-19 test expires while travelling

What happens if you touch down in Thailand and your 72 hour CV-19 test has elapsed while travelling, they test you on arrival?

 

I know quarantine is not 3 tests on day 1, day 6 and day 12 ( i think )

It is not 72 hours from the day the test was done. It is from the day the results of the test was done.

Also is on the day you depart for Thailand not the day of arrival.

From COE application website.

"(2) Medical certificate attesting that the traveler is free from COVID-19, using RT-PCR method, issued no more than 72 hours before travelling,"

But i'm sure the time of sample is what counts.

That has been discussed many times. All the official websites state it is from the day the certificate for the test is issued.

Sample taken ( day 1 ), certificate not returned till day 5, you can still travel on day 6, 7 or 8?

 

Makes not sense as it's then more than 72 hours since tested for CV-19?

They state from the day the certificate is issued due to the fact that people in many countries would not be able to get the test and certificate within 72 hours of departure.

Defeats the purpose of mentioning the 72 hours then really.

But any implementation has to be practicable. Doing it your way would lead to wasted and repeated tests whenever the infeasibly tight window could not be satisfied, which would depend on the ability of the testing center to get results out. Then there's the havoc with the flight bookings. And on top of all that, you want the 72-hour window to also include arrival! Where are we all flying from, Malaysia?

Thanks, ubonjoe. Is it safe to assume this same logic applies when flying from Thailand to other countries - Spain for example?

Every country can have their own requirements.
