BANGKOK (NNT) - Bangkok City Hall today launched a 3-day proactive COVID-19 testing site in Huai Khwang district, serving local residents and particularly construction workers in nearby camps.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) created the proactive COVID-19 testing site at a park and ride facility located at the MRT’s Thailand Cultural Center station in Huai Khwang district.

This new temporary testing site is open for three days, from 8 a.m. daily from today until 6 June, aiming to screen and test local residents and construction workers at a capacity of 500 people per day.

Construction companies have arranged for their workers in nearby camps to get screened for COVID-19, even at camps without any cases reported, as densely populated living and working conditions make it hard to implement effective transmission control protocols.

The companies are now aiming to get their workers tested, and sign them up for COVID-19 vaccine shots as soon as possible.

A resident from the nearby Thab Kaew community getting screened today said many cases have been reported in his/her community, with officials now urging other residents to get screened.

He/she said he/she is happy to be getting tested, as receiving the test result early, means an earlier start to treatment, if the results return positive.

He/she said he/she has been taking good care of him/herself and his/her family members, however it is inevitable for him/her to leave home for work daily.
