Thailand's transport minister Saysayam Chidchob said that plans were getting in place to open the country to foreign tourists from next month with the launch of the Phuket Sandbox on July 1st.

After a meeting to prepare the way to opening the country again he said he had urged his compatriots to have a "service mind" to create that good "first impression".

Thai Rath printed the English terms in their story.

The minister also stressed that "Emergency Case" (what to do if things go wrong) was also important as was getting 100% of the population vaccinated.

This latter one may prove more of a sticking point with many criticizing Thailand's stuttering rollout.

Thai Rath said that the reopening plan after Phuket would  include: Pattaya, Cha-Am, Hua Hin, Phangnga, Koh Samui, Krabi, Chiang Mai, Buriram and Bangkok.

Meanwhile the director of Phuket International Airport Thanee Chuangchu said he was "ready for anything".

From July to October 31 airlines have plans to fly directly into the southern Thai airport.

In July there will be around ten direct flights per day that will rise to 18-24 in August.

It will continue to go up into September and October, he asserted.

The airlines were not named in the story, notes Thaivisa.

Probably they would enjoy anal trackers more , because less face it unless you had to go there  do to business or family,  it would be sheer stupidity to go there as an inmate, as clearly they can not be tourists if they can not tour.????

As I've mentioned in another thread,  Hong Kong has downgraded Thailand from Medium to HIGH risk, so any Hongkie on a return ticket will face 14 ~21 days of quarantine on return ,depending on if they are vaccinated or not, plus various pre and post flight PCR tests!

Maybe a one way ticket will work for those with reasons to stay here......IF one way tickets are permitted under the sandbox scheme ???
