Holding centres set up in Songkhla for asymptomatic COVID-19 cases as hospitals fill up

Two holding centres have been established in Jana and Ranot districts of Thailand’s southern province of Songkhla, to accommodate asymptomatic COVID-19 patients, as hospitals there are reaching capacity.

Yala COVID-19 Cluster Spreads to 12 Provinces

BANGKOK, June 22 (TNA) – The Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) ordered serious disease control measures as patients from an Islamic center in Yala were spreading throughout the South except Chumphon and Ranong provinces.

Thai Finance Ministry Plans New Tax Structure to Ensure Sustainable Revenue Growth

Reopening of Phuket and Surat Thani to foreign tourists confirmed for July

Thailand’s cabinet has confirmed that Phuket will reopen to fully vaccinated tourists on July 1st, under the “Phuket Sandbox” project, as planned. Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Koh Tao, in Surat Thani province, will follow a similar model on July 15th, said Government spokesperson Anucha Burapachaisri today (Tuesday).

Thailand legislators pass referendum bill to pave way for charter amendments

The Thai parliament passed the Referendum Bill on Tuesday, in its final reading, with an overwhelming 611 to 4 votes, paving the way for future constitutional amendments.

400,000 join Greenpeace’s campaign to stop Thailand joining CPTPP

Members of Greenpeace Thailand gathered in front of Government House on Tuesday, to present the 400,000 signatures it has gathered in opposition to the government’s plan to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).

CCSA Has Back-up Plans for Phuket Reopening

BANGKOK, June 22 (TNA) – The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) is going ahead with the Phuket Sandbox reopening plan, saying the tourism scheme can be adjusted or cancelled, depending on the Covid-19 situation.

Pattaya tourism and business sector tell government “Let us open the city fully, give us the Covid-19 vaccines. Enough is Enough.”

Eight major business and tourism associations in Pattaya stated today that they have met recently with the Minister of Tourism, Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, and have stated that they want to be able to open to foreign tourists (and domestic tourists) in August and that vaccines must be prioritized for Pattaya.

Entertainment venue, bar, and nightclub owners and staff protest in Phuket to governor asking to be allowed to open for the “Phuket Sandbox” on July 1st

More than 50 staff and owners who worked at entertainment businesses, bars, and nightclubs massed up to the Phuket Provincial Hall this afternoon with a letter asking the Phuket Governor to partner with the Thai government and allow the reopening of their businesses for the Phuket Sandbox from July First.
