Sino-Cambodian ties to be closer, stronger

Featured Replies

Cambodian government spokesman Phay Siphan said he has no doubt that the Sino-Cambodian ties will be closer and stronger in the future thanks to the greater cooperation under China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), the recently-signed Cambodia-China Free Trade Agreement and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership free trade pact.

“I’m proud to say that despite the impact of the COVID-19, many bilateral cooperation projects under the BRI such as the first Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway, the new national stadium, the 700-megawatt power plant in Sihanoukville, among others, have progressed steadily,” he said.

“These projects bring us tremendous benefits, helping us boost the economy and reduce poverty during and after the COVID-19 era,” he said.

It's bound to happen sooner or later. The Africans for instance didn't kick out the Western colonialists some decades ago only to replace them with Chinese ...

Will be fascinating to watch when it happens.
