Concerns over the extinction of the Koi ethnic group heritage after the confiscation of their lands

Featured Replies

Over the last year, the Koi ethnic group in the Sala Visai commune in the historical Ao Por village, in the municipality of Romni, Kompong Thom province, northern Cambodia, lost many of their homes and lands of forests which is their only source of livelihood, by an investment company, in addition to the destruction of the last 5 acres dedicated to worship.

The villagers fear the disappearance of their culture and that the new generation will not know about the history of their ancestors and their handicrafts, especially sword-making, which is the landmark of this area, calling on the government to help them restore their agricultural lands despite their filing several complaints against the company.
