July 5, 20215 yr BANGKOK (NNT) - Thailand’s Public Health Ministry has announced that at least 10 million doses of vaccine will be secured for distribution in July, to be delivered on a weekly basis, ensure uninterrupted vaccinations and to prevent inoculation appointments having to be postponed. According to the ministry, state-provision of inoculation covers vaccines from Sinovac, AstraZeneca and Sinopharm. The government has also negotiated with other manufacturers to buy vaccines suitable for other population segments, such as young children. Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said experts in Thailand are conducting research into the administration of a third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, to boost immunity. If the study concludes that a third dose is appropriate, the ministry will consider providing it. Meanwhile, a Thai Airways International (THAI) cargo flight, carrying a further one million doses of the Sinopharm vaccine from China, arrived at Suvarnabhumi airport yesterday. It was the third such flight. -- © Copyright NNT 2021-07-05 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates

Oh heavens. I feel sorry for those in power when this statement ends up going pear shaped.
July 5, 20215 yr Popular Post I'll wait for that figure to be revised by the time I've come back from taking a dump.

July 5, 20215 yr Popular Post So, they are sticking with AZ which Australian doctors very reluctantly give to under 40's so most of the Thai working poulation will get that. Or Sinovac. Which, from many reliable accounts is a widow-maker among medical staff. I wonder if Sinopharm will make me grow a second head out of my third spinal vertibrae and sprout bat wings? May the Gods have mercy on this poor mismanaged nation.
July 5, 20215 yr Popular Post yes, they did order all together 20mln sinovac, to be delivere before august. So the majority of vaccinated will still be sinovac, and not better quality vaccinations.
July 5, 20215 yr 10 million doses for July? Okay, I will prepare for a heavy lockdown around October due to an exponential increase in positive cases.
July 5, 20215 yr And here's the news for tomorrow: Thai Health Ministry reveals that only 2,3,4,5 million doses could be ordered in July for delivery in October (the exact year hasn't been revealed yet). Until I see/feel that syringe going into my arm, I'm not believing a single word these guys report. Edited July 5, 20215 yr by djayz
July 5, 20215 yr Popular Post If they know it's 10 MM, why not just reveal the vaccines, the quantity and the delivery date? Is this a reality show? Do we have wait until next week's episode? Certainly if they knew they'd excitedly reveal that detail. My guess: they have no clue what might get delivered. My best current guess, excludes anything delivered in the last 5 days. 1.05 AZ from Japan 1 MM Sinopharm 1.5 MM Pfizer from the U.S. 2 MM AZ from somewhere 3 MM Sinovac Will they hit 10 MM? Of course, maybe by double counting some end-June and beg-August stuff.
July 5, 20215 yr Popular Post It’s classic Thailand. you can’t get enough vaccine supply for 1, let alone 2 doses for those that need it, so what do you do? investigate giving a third dose. you can’t get enough vaccine for the elderly and at risk, so what do you do? look into ordering vaccines for small children. it’s hard going not to become pretty frustrated.
July 5, 20215 yr "Meanwhile, a Thai Airways International (THAI) cargo flight, carrying a further one million doses of the Sinopharm vaccine from China, arrived at Suvarnabhumi airport yesterday. It was the third such flight." Funny isn't it that when somebody decides to import this vaccine the haste at which contracts and standards are drawn up and assessed is nothing short of incredible. Change the vaccine name to Pfizer or Moderna and it is the exact opposite.

July 5, 20215 yr Director of the National Vaccine Institute (NVI), Nakorn Premsri, admitted on Friday that Thailand won't receive 10 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine per month as previously announced.
July 6, 20215 yr 14 hours ago, Neeranam said: Why on Earth would they want to give a vaccine to young kids? Not sure why you ask, but young kids are routinely vaccinated for all kinds of diseases: whooping cough, polio, diphtheria to name but a few.

There investigating 3rd dose, because its going to be them, their families, high ranking military, police and assorted Hi So's who will be getting the 3rd booster jab of Moderna or Pfizer, way before many Thais get even their 1st dose of anything.

There will probably be another delivery of Sinovac or 2 this Month, as AZ / SB are not up to delivering their full contractual obligation to Thailand, with a projected delivery of between 5 and 6 Million Doses, mainly caused by obligations to other SE Asia Nations. Thailand has to procure mRNA vaccines with all haste , as the Delta Variant of Covid is proven to attack younger members of the population, and Sinovac has also proven to be next to useless against this Variant. Killing children through incompetence and ignorant arrogance is a heinous crime, for which there is no forgiveness. - ever Edited July 6, 20215 yr by Cake Monster

July 6, 20215 yr Once again no mention of how many of the 10 million are AZ produced locally. Likely few.
