The chief of Thailand's Chamber of Commerce told INN that addressing the slow vaccine rollout was of the utmost importance.

Everything else was window dressing to the main problems facing the Thai economy.

He called on the Thai government to buck up its ideas and speed up its rollout according to its stated plans.

INN interpreted this as "the faster the better".

Sanan Angubonkul said this was the primary way to address the economic woes that the country is facing for the vast majority of companies.

With this in mind he is arranging a meeting of 40 CEO's to come up with other ways and suggestions for the government to improve its performance in reacting to the economic disaster caused by the pandemic.

He is not far off from what will ail the woes of the country and also help with making covid become less of a major problem, much like in the US and then the UK and Europe.  Vaccination has had a way of helping those other economies pick up and put people back to work.

Does it really take 40 CEO´s to tell the government to procure some damn vaccines?

Probably not, but odds are good they may have more pens available to sign the purchase order

Well they had a government led by business people.

Now they're back to a military government, again.

The business community, for the most part fomented and supported the overthrow of the democratically elected government.

Now they're whining? C'mon.

Schmucks, you got what you wanted, now sit down and shut up.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!     That should do it   NOT

A welcome prod to the clowns.

But it may be clearer if the statement was

"buck up its ideas and meet its promises for the vaccine rollout"
TIT
"Speed up" or "Improve its performance".
How will they do this when they have no idea how to plan for such things.

IMO Business & Commerce know how to manipulate within the worlds industries, the Military only know how to destroy everything they come into contact with - Leave the vaccine procurement to the business people and keep this so called government away from it all.

The best way to get a Government to improve its performance is by getting a new Government !   Send the current Gangsters back to the Dark Ages where they belong...forever.

True democracy........how can anyone in their right mind argue against it????

It is frightening to think the USA was a whisker away from losing it.

But business people are always cautious. The problem was that Thailand escaped the first waves and thought it would do it again. They thought it would not touch them. That is why they bought vaccines late.

They only started to care when cases mounted. In hindsight a bad decision.  However had they bought them before and they would not have this wave then they would have spend money for nothing.

In hindsight things are always easy.

Not defending them but I understand their point of view, but the mess they have now is a result of wanting to save money.

Plus of course the standard ineptitude of how they handled it.

Would you have bought them based on the past experiences (low covid numbers in the country) Im not so sure what decision I would have made.

I like to know when other countries in Asia started buying vaccines to see if it was only Thailand who was stupid.

And yes this government should go.

Didn't they already tell the government to speed things up a month or so ago?  Feels like we are just going in endless circles.  'Speed things up!'  Response: 'We're thinking about procuring______'  'More urgency is needed!'  Response:  'We're mulling acquiring______'  'Hurry!  We need vaccines now!'  Response:  'We're planning to order______ to be delivered sometime later in the year or next year.'  Rinse and repeat, month after month.  Meanwhile, the Moderna contract only just finished with the AG after all this time and is still in the processing stage even after that.  Hopeless.

How can they speed up?  The vaccines don't exist and most future production is sold already.

Wow so many now openly criticising the government... never before.

If an elected government did this, one would expect a coup.

As Maggie Thatcher said..  Politicians are like diapers, they should be changed regularly for obvious reasons.

Very common narrative here.......so and so demands this must happen.....such a body states that this must be speeded up..........no plan, no instructions, no ideas.......just a demand........I guess it fools the Thais; the few who even bother following what their 'government' is doing.

Is there anyone in this government who isn't either Chinese or at least looks Chinese?

No.

Really surprised they're not meeting in secret making mischief. Long overdue expect patience and finances are about finished.
