Yellowtail
I have an Asus VivoBook S that is about two years old. It has developed an intermittent charging issue. A message will flash that the unit is "on battery" and seconds later the "plugged in" message flashes. Tapping the plug will make it happen, so I assume it is a contact issue. I assume that either the plug or receptacle has been damaged. Which is more likely? I would guess the receptacle but I don't know. If it is the receptacle, how easy/expensive a fix would it be? Thanks!
Eindhoven
ASUS laptops are notorious for having problems with their charging ports.

I could write a book on the problems I have had with my (second hand) Asus Ultrabook. The connector problem is simple to resolve, even if it means taking it to a shop o get it fixed. I don't believe it is easy to do yourself.

We have quite a few shops specialising in laptop repairs as well as stores like BananaIT, Advice & JIB who sell them (and also build PCs) so would probably be able to change the connector. Your initial best bets might be: 1. to use an adaptor to plug in to the laptop's power socket and then plug your power supply plug into it - just in case your power supply plug is a bit too small. or 2. buy another power supply. (I bought several when I had problems) If you're confident in taking things apart, you could try checking the socket on the motherboard and carefully adding a bit more solder where it is needed. But that's really a job for professionals.
