Reporters from Sanook went to Rama 1 in Pathumwan in the area of Mah Bun Krong in downtown Bangkok during the rush hour yesterday and found it largely deserted.

There were just a few vehicles caught at the lights.

What would normally be packed with traffic was quiet because of the great majority of employees staying home to work.

The media said it was the same in Ratdamri near Central World where there were just taxis, tuk-tuks and motorcycle taxis ferrying a few shoppers.

Few people were on the buses meaning that social distancing was not an issue.

A BTS maid told them that she had her working hours altered. Despite having two doses of vaccine already she was still concerned about her "risky" employment fearing that if she caught Covid there might not be a hospital bed for her, like so many others.

Meanwhile traders in the area and those drivers and riders all spoke with one voice saying they can't work from home and need to do something to try and scratch a living to meet household bills.

They implored the government to help and understand their plight.

Absolutely wonderful driving around at the moment...just a pity nowhere is open.

Work from home = told to go home until workplace can open again or will open when possible to actually make money !

"Work from home" or "Work" from home? :whistling:

Don't believe it. Yesterday and today has been more traffic on the roads, and more people in the streets in the northern Bangkok than in the days and weeks leading up to the "soft lockdown". I have seen some other posters citing similar experience in other parts of the city on other threads.

That's just government propaganda. Most people cannot work from home. Also, when I went out to buy groceries today, the roads and sidewalks weren't really deserted at all. I'm overlooking Sukhumvit Road from my window, traffic is definitely lighter than usual but not dramatically so.

Sounds like a "Meat Loaf" song.... All revved up and no where to go!

This is the real problem, 100's if not 1000's of poor people going without food.

Unfortunately they've got to come to terms with the fact that the fat cats ruining the country really couldn't give a monkeys about their plight.

This is the really sad thing .
