BANGKOK (NNT) - The Thai government announced, via the Thai Khu Fah Facebook page on 20 July, that three locally produced COVID-19 vaccines will be ready for administration by next year.

The first, CU-Cov19 (mRNA), is being developed in collaboration with Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Medicine and the University of Pennsylvania, and is currently in the human-trial phase.

The second, HXP-GPO Vac (inactivated), is developed by the Government Pharmaceutical Organization in collaboration with Mahidol University and the United States’ PATH Institute. It is also currently in the human-trial phase.

The last one, Baiya SARS-CoV-1 Vax 1, is developed from tobacco leaves by Baiya Phytopharm and Chulalongkorn University. This vaccine has been successfully tested on animals and will soon be tried out on humans.

Glad I'm not in a rush for these vaccines

That´s great news! Now it´s just information about halting deliveries on other vaccines left. Lets all wait for more people to die, so we can make some real dough on the side.

Sure glad the producers are part of the 'ISO' system (not)

Line up if you dare... I rather a placebo...~ิ_~

If this means Thailand limping on in some non-tourist , economy shut, mass unemployment , travel ban, military lockdown limbo for the next 9 months then Thailand is up that river without a paddle far deeper than we think !

Prudent to add "if and when they pass human trials" I'd wager.

Details, details!

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

"next year" at the earliest if all goes well.

How many would have died before these appear 100,000+

It’s July !! No hurry boss ????????????????

You wouldn't want to be a Thai guinea pig.

By then the 'millions' of better vaccines will have been delivered and used, too little too late they are wasting their time

Concentrate on getting vaccines 'ready' for now, not next year.

Okay. The virus will wait until Thailand is ready.

Great news, and well done Chula U. (the one from tobacco leaves do you smoke it? Joke)

I wonder who will sign up for Thai quality vaccines?  The Chinese vaccine has clearly made the point that not all vaccines are equal

It took Pfizer and Moderna 10 years to develop the mRNA technology, and Thailand thinks they can do it in 10 months???

So that whole fake news thing is not a thing anymore?

Wait until the mob in control get a load of this......might never see the light of day!

The father of mRNA technology, Drew Weissman, is helping Chulalonkorn. He and biochemist Katalin Karikó are up for a Nobel Prize for their collaborative work on mRNA vaccines.

Pfizer and Moderna use their patents.  With Weissman's help, Chulalonkorn's work could result in a more advanced vaccine.

Is there a scientific study showing that smokers are immune to Covid?  Must be?
Interesting.  SARS-Cov-1 isn't SARS-coV-2.
Two years from now.  "Baiya SARS-CoV-1 Vax 13 determined a success.  In other new Thai tobacco monopolies announce record earnings as 20 million Thais take up smoking.

When I hear terms such as The Father of mRNA and The Mother of mRNA, the ghosts of Nicolae and Elena Ceaușescu start to crawl up my leg with knives between their teeth.

Don't study history, just take the blue pill and live happily.
