Things are tough right now in Pattaya, with an estimated 80 to 90 percent of businesses closed, either by mandate or due to lack of traffic, and tens of thousands either out of work or laid off temporarily.

This is due to an ongoing Covid-19 situation seeing hundreds of daily cases in Chonburi that has led the government to take strict measures, closing many places, even beaches, and pools! This has led to thousands in charity and food lines across the city daily who need help with their daily expenses and simply to feed themselves and their families as government support and aid are, at best, minimal, and at worst, doesn’t happen for many informal workers at all.

Many are reaching into their hearts (and pockets) to help those in need and one group is Pattaya Community Support. In their own words, here is what they do:

I just donated another 1000 baht to a local group helping feed those in need. As an expat, I just want to know what is government doing to help?

One of the more wealthy countries in South East Asia and the Thai government can't even offer some meaningful assistance to its citizens in a time of global / national crisis.   It's a disgrace.

Sfa mate

I am Sorry to say but this food give away do not feed truly needy. But does provide for freeloaders

truly needy do not have motorbikes to get to the beach nor have the money for public transport to get there and back.

in all those queues you see people on their smart phones checking FB or watching YouTube . So they have money to fill up their bikes , have money to keep their smart phones, have money to top up internet but they need free food?

The really needy sleeping in back sois under a tree and walk around digging through rubbish bins pushing a trolly not riding around on bikes to get free food
