BANGKOK (NNT) - The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has sped up rapid antigen testing as the latest weapon in fighting the current wave of COVID-19 infections, which are threatening to overwhelm the country’s capital.

Bangkok Governor Aswin Kwanmuang said the BMA has, so far, deployed officials to conduct rapid COVID-19 tests on residents in six districts. The test kits provide results within 30 minutes and are over 90% accurate.

He said people who return a negative result will be allowed to return home, while those who test positive must take an RT-PCR test to confirm the infection.

The governor said this method enables the BMA to conduct tests on up to 2,000 people per day and laboratories to return test results within two days, adding that the National Health Security Office (NHSO) will offer home and community isolation services or hospitalisation to people whose rapid antigen test comes back positive.

Sorry, we were lied to too many times. 90% accurate? Maybe, but then 105 will be forced into quarantine, or do they get another test?

Not sure who lied to you or why you would feel like that.

“90% accurate” should be differentiated into specificity and sensitivity. AFAIK most of these rapid antibody/antigen tests have a very high specificity but a quite low sensitivity, so I wouldn’t use them for widespread testing and they cannot replace PCR tests which have a high specificity and sensitivity.

"Flatten the curve'

"Just for two weeks"

"(previous to the panicdemic)" Lockdowns are not recommended in any circumstances during epidemics" This wasn't just WHO that said this, EVERY country that had contingency plans was saying this

"Wuhan as the origin of this is a Trumpian conspiracy theory, ha ha"

Etc.

if this is correct and not some defelction then it is a good idea IMO

but is of course open to abuse and massaging the numbers

That’s not a lie but the goal.

Who exactly gave you that guarantee? No one gave it to me.

Covid is a pandemic, not and endemic. And if the above is true, it was said before Covid, so it can hardly be a lie about Covid.

It is.

Are you a bit paranoid by any chance?

You don't read much, do you? Either that or you don't pay attention.

At that rate it will "only" take more than ten years to test the entire population of Bangkok.

Since you didn’t engage with any of my reply, I guess that must be you who didn’t read or didn’t pay attention.
