Rattanakorn Market reopens this week after one week’s temporary closure to control the spread of the Covid -19 virus, according to Banglamung officials.

The Banglamung District Chief Wuttisak Sainghadachoe ordered the temporary closure of several markets in Banglamung for seven days last week.

The Banglamung District Chief ordered the temporary closure of Rattanakorn Market specifically from July 26th to August 1st for a big cleaning, staff Covid-19 testing, and sanitation and training measures. The training included teaching vendors how to take additional precautions against Covid-19 and how to help socially distance potential customers.

And if they tested all the people in there, they would find COVID cases.  Surface cleaning has  been shown in many studies to be not very necessary as a preventive measure.  Casinos in the USA no longer run around and wipe down every slot machine after a player leaves,  things like that

People gotta eat/buy food, I'm sure the big supermarkets would love for those small food stands to close down but then the little shops would suffer even more.  Thai government; dammed if they do and dammed if they don't.

Yes the Thai government is dammed - as soon as it diverted vaccines from the old and sick to whatever other HiSo motivated program (eg the sanbox scheme/factories etc). Leads to pressure on the medical services.

Yesterday on the Thai foreign news update I saw that the average age of vaccinated foreigners was in the 30s, meaning lots of youngsters vaccinated before the old/sick in this population. They then noted that 90% of the deaths were in the old/sick population - a result of no vaccination.

Pattaya numbers up

Reopen a place where the Covid can spread

Help keep up the upward trend

Is this a thought-out policy?

ah 50 million Thais are running around the country un vaccinated and interacting in all sorts of ways in thousands of places.  Trying to focus on one market is not accomplishing much
