The chief of the Narcotics Control Board Wichai Chaimongkhol said that the Airport Interdiction Task Force at Suvarnabhumi had intercepted two packages bound for Australia containing crystal meth or "ice".

The chief said that the method of concealment in these two had not been seen before and showed the smugglers' willingness to try many methods to get the drugs through, Sanook reported.

The first was posted in Nong Bon, Bangkok with the name of a recipient in Australia.

490 grams of ice was hidden in a saffron pillow, part of a package containing Buddhist religious items like cloth, candles and joss-sticks.

The second package had an unclear name of sender and that of a recipient in Australia. It originated in Klong Jan, Bangkok.

845 grams of ice was hidden among plasters for the relief of muscle pain.

ASEAN NOW has reported many such cases in recent months with the packages mostly heading for Australia.
