Minister of Culture and Fine Art Phoeurng Sackona has requested Thailand to provide blueprints and information related to Angkor Wat-like temple being built in Thailand’s Buriram province. The request was made on Thursday during a meeting at the Ministry office attended by Sackona and Thai Ambassador to Cambodia Panyarak Poolthup.

Last month, photos of the construction of the alleged temple caused outrage among Cambodian people and the Ministry of Culture said that it had to investigate it first before taking any diplomatic action. According to the ministry, Sackona told the Thai Ambassador that Cambodians strongly reacted to the construction of the Angkor Wat-like temple in Buriram.

It added Cambodia asked Thai authorities to collaborate with the Cambodian officials to provide information and official documents relating to the temple in question. “It is for Cambodia to have a [solid] ground for the examination leading to some measures to avoid any negative result that could happen and affect the relations between the two countries,” said the ministry.

The Minister of Culture and Fine Art should be told that Thais are World Class Masters in copying everything. In all fairness, it is a nice compliment to Cambodia.

On second thought, Angkor Wat belongs to the world and its people - by co-incident it stands in todays Cambodia, a political denomination which was completely unknown a thousand years ago ..... when Angkor Wat was built.

The Khmer folks is a race, Cambodia is a political denomination. You have Khmer, Bama and Yunnan gen prints in the Thai population; latter again is a political clarification.

Get a life, be happy having a world's treasure on your soil, preserve it for generations to come and make the country rich in selling access and entry tickets, if and when that will be allowed again ????
