BANGKOK (NNT) - Thailand’s Public Health Ministry will allow those who test positive with an antigen test kit to receive treatment from the National Health Security Office (NHSO).

Department of Medical Services (DMS) Director-General Dr. Somsak Akkasilp said people with positive tests are now categorized as “probable cases”. They can isolate at home or seek hospital admission at any of more than 100 facilities in 50 districts of Bangkok.

He said he has instructed the chief of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s (BMA) Health Department to begin admitting those who have a positive home test immediately, adding that, in some communities, isolation will begin even during the wait for the test result itself, before being allowed home if the result is negative.

Patients with results from antigen test kits approved by the DMS and Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) can take a photo of the result and contact the NHSO’s 1330 hotline or Line account for hospitalization within 48 hours. Those who test positive in active case finding will be directly registered in the system and treatment can be delivered immediately to their home or accommodation.

So the biggest question with this new announcement that I have is "Will they be counted in the case totals only if admitted for treatment"?, or "will they all be counted and added to the daily cases", or better yet "Not counted at all"?  Sometimes I wonder when they make these announcement what the end game may be, then on top of that how much more room has been recently added in places such as treatment field hospitals and such.

Must mean that they won't be added in the statistics, why else call them "probable"?

Is the antigen test as shown in the photo, not almost instantaneous, ie about 15 minutes.

So if positive, your isolation will start that amount of time earlier.

Gotta get those numbers down somehow, so calling them probable - unlike any other country on the planet - may reduce their infection numbers published to help tourism - just as long as another woman is not murdered !

These are a new category.. probable cases...... not counted as prisons, or regular but separate .. Easy to lower the number so 1st October the country can open

They closed a 7-11 near us a couple of days ago because one person got a positive on a home test. Went to get a real test and it was negative. 7-11 open again.

When will they start publishing the daily number of 'probable cases'?

They already do, take a look in the daily covid update thread. Over 6,000 positive from rapid tests yesterday

Whey hey here we go

Lies failed, damn lies still failing so now lets use statistics:

Infected is infected - TIT with all its face.

As believable as the 2% unemployed figure...  what government figures are ever correct.

So we now have more than 40000 cases daily...

Here is today's numbers

19,603 cases and 149 Deaths.

Not surprising. These lateral flow tests are a lottery with so many false positives in my experience, and causing untold damage to businesses.

Not surprising they have been downgraded due to their unreliability.

3% are false positive not bad. It is a higher percentage for false negatives that’s why they advice that if you test negative then make sure you test again after two days but then that could also be good advice for positive tests.
