Thailand's immigration police have denied they have secret lists of people who are security threats to the kingdom.

This comes after Move Forward MP Rangsiman Rome said that he had a top secret list of 183 individuals who are deemed to be a threat to national security.

Immigration spokesman Pol Col Cherngron Rimphakdee said yesterday that immigration have two lists - blacklisted foreigners are on one and the other currently contains the names of 1,923 people both Thai and foreigners named in arrest warrants.

People not on either list are free to come and go as they please without immigration being able to arrest them.

The spokesman said that the list is constantly changing.

He said that IB chief Pol Lt-Gen Sompong Chingduang (who was not at the press conference) would look into the matter but he denied there was any immigration special list apart from the two mentioned, reported INN yesterday.

I wonder if my name is on the list due to caustic comments on many things????? Sticks and stones will break my bones, but names will never hurt me.????

Because it's a secret.

the first rule of secret lists is that you dont talk about secret lists

Looking at all the criminals that just walk into Thailand unchallenged. I believe them.

They have no list and don't give a damn.

That's funny, I'd expect any immigration police to have a list of security threats. Back in 1983 my wife was working of such a database when she was working for at the Australian immigration Belconnen office. Mosts of her "clients" were purported Arab extremists, things haven't changed much, isn't..

So why is Thai immigration so shy about carrying out their duty? Maybe they don't want to be ridiculed doing actual work.

Of course the list of whom to bung to travel freely is on the red list.

In 'The Land of Denial' what would anyone expect ?

I'm a bit surprised that there are only 1,923 outstanding arrest warrants in Thailand as a whole. Unless not each and every arrest warrants translates into such an immigration record, which would be even more surprising.

from tweeter of thai journalist Pravit Rojanaphruk @PravitR

"Leaked top-secret Watchlist of 183 people definitely genuine becoz it contains ID photos, ID & passport numbers of those listed. Only the state has such information. Also specified that it was updated this June. 2 girls on the list are 15."

This list was rather given to immigration by the special branch, secret police

Secret or not is irrelevant. If they do not have such list, they are truly amateurs. All countries have list of people that might pose a security or other threat to the country. Talk about lying their teeth off.

Of course there are no secret lists since they are publicly available. You can see them on the back of any form you receive from immigration, just turn it over and there you have someone's passport page photocopied on, and that guy could very well be security threat! ????

Would be interesting to get a copy of these "leaked" lists, both the wanted list and the blacklisted one.

Fake News???????

183 people is ... surprisingly few !

anyway, why should immigration have such a list?

I guess there is a special branch of police, DSI or other Thai intelligence service who are interested in such persons and will tap into immigration systems at leisure to look up visa status and arrivals departure of such persons.

I'd guess thousands of people are on such a list, not just 183.

So there is a list, it's just not a secret list, especially since it leaked - makes perfect sense here.

Maybe it's special branch who have the list, not immigration.

Yes, it's more likely ISOC manages the various lists; after all they're the ones who surveil the enemies of the state.

And Immigration liaises with ISOC, so they have a no-fly list to make sure only the Boss'es of the world get to fly out of Thailand.

This was exposed when a MP from a rival party was stopped from flying out of Suvarnabhumi recently.

of course they have secret !ists, anyone who thinks otherwise is deluded.

on top of watchlist, there is also a blacklist. One of those on this list is a monk who fled the last year to Germany, he was charged just short of lese majeste

Please do not forget the flying saucer temple monk. Nobody knows where he is. Maybe he has been abducted.
