Computer crime police conducted raids on illegal gambling sites in six provinces on Friday after complaints from a woman known as "Mae Nam Neung".

 

Pharida Thanachotjinda had complained that her image and number suggestions were being used by gambling sites to advertise their services and gain custom. 

 

She is someone known as a "nak bai laek" - she divines numbers for use in the lottery by lighting joss-sticks and praying, notes ASEAN NOW. 

 

The raids on Friday conducted in Songkhla, Samut Prakan, Buriram, Khon Kaen, Phuket and Mahasarakham resulted in the arrest of 29 suspects and seizure of evidence. 

 

These comprised gambling business amounting to 100 million baht in turnover utilizing 12 websites, reported Sanook.
