Sub-district hospitals to become vaccination centers in rural area

BANGKOK (NNT) - The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health revealed today that the ministry’s committee has agreed to enable sub-district hospitals and mobile units to become vaccine providers to cover people in rural areas.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health, Anutin Charnvirakul said it is necessary to vaccinate the elderly, people with underlying diseases, and women three months pregnant as fast as possible as they have a higher risk of fatality from Covid-19.

Previously, the ministry said the target was to vaccinate 70 percent of residents in dark-red provinces and 50 percent in other areas by August. To accelerate the current vaccination rate, the ministry agreed to enable sub-district hospitals to acquire mobile units to shorten travel distances for people in rural areas.

However, the vaccination process conducted by sub-district hospitals and mobile units must be the same as that at major vaccination centers. Hospitals and their units must monitor the recipients after the vaccination, and have the required equipment for emergencies.

On August 14, Minister Anutin visited a health station in Pak Chong district of Nakhon Ratchasima, one of the first provinces to have a vaccination center in areas other than the major ones in the city center. At the health station, vaccine recipients from nearby villages said they were pleased to get vaccinated near their houses as it’s quite far to travel to the crowded city center.

Meanwhile, bed-ridden and elderly patients were vaccinated at home by mobile units.

this logistical plan should have been in place months ago. hope they've thought about training enough people to deliver the vaccines, in the uk there was a huge training programme to ensure there were enough qualified jabbers in place.

Meanwhile. I, as an 87 year old have to to travel 200kms to Bangkok to get my second jab. Does this make sense when people are being told not to travel? But this is Thailand.????

My vehicle tax expired and the place nearby was closed at the beginning of the month (or end of last), when we went deep red. My Mrs was able to get them on the phone and the solution offered was to drive to either the Rayong one, or Chonburi City. Hardly fitting in with the government's rules...

Drove to Rayong, it was done easily in a drive thru facility. The kiosk operator was unmasked.. and even a small petty fine for late payment.

I live in Kap Choeng Surin about 2 km from the Kap Choeng Government Hospital. NO APP was used or needed to registered. My wife registered me by my pink card and she by her id card. She was notified about 6 weeks back on a Tuesday on her phone to come on down. We both received AZ and are scheduled to return 1 October at 0800. People I know who live in Surin City have been moved up for their shot of AZ by 30 days.

Friend went to Pattaya Indoor Stadium - over 70 but turned away at the door; 'Thai Only'. I've registered with three on-line sites in the last month.  At 78 I haven't got many months left but still not heard a dicky-bird.  Chonburi is the land that Thais forgot.

Yep... they at least bring their kids and Covid to Chonburi from Bangkok at weekends and holidays.

Hopefully.

Chaotic government planning at its worst.

Except Buriram where 40 year old female friends of my wife are getting pfizer,

In my rural village in Issan only 10 Thai people so far have been vaccinated, the Amphur has setup to do 150 people a day so no problem there.

Vaccine supplies are the problem.

A concern on another note is we have had a couple sent from Bangkok to local hospital to recover, then out to a farm shack 300 metres from our home to quarantine for 14 days.

That finishes tomorrow and they will head straight back to Bangkok.

So the cycle will rinse and repeat.
