Dear Forum,

Just a few things I wish to clarify with you knowledgable fellas please. I will be going to Poipet border to get my Non B stamped, never been before and have read on a few posts that Immigration may ask for an extra charge of 200b If you are not staying overnight in Cambodia/ie. entering and leaving Cambodia same day. Would this be correct?

Also my Thai fiance would like to accompany me to the border, will she need a temporary day pass to cross over the border, or would her Thai ID card suffice (when we enter Laos we always need to get her a temp 3 day pass as she doesnt have a passport) Also please can you confirm that just one Photo is required for the Cambodia visa. Thanks for settling my mind on these above questions! Many thanks in advance!

Best regards,

KD :o

kratindaeng, i'll try and get you started with some answers. the moderators are extremely helpful but as i believe they donate their time on a volunteer basis they're not always available 24/7.

the grease money is one of the unpleasant things about the cambodian border. if you go with a group, one of the advantages is you seem to get a bulk discount and usually the thai guides deal with cambo immig. economies of scale sort of thing.

if you go as an independent, then they probably will try and run the scam by you that you have to pay extra if you want to return the same day. as they won't give receipts for this it appears to be corruption. if you feel spunky, argue about it.

for the thai national questions it would probably be easiest to have her call one of those visa run companies and have a thai explain for her. these two are the largest outfits i know leaving from bkk and pattaya respectively. as you state you have a non-immig "b", it's my understanding the onward ticket requirement doesn't apply to you.

in the past there was only (1) photo required but that honestly may have changed. on the jackgolf news page they are now saying two. there are many visa run companies that do this route. i am in no way trying to plug one over the other. these are just the two most popular that i know of.

phew! all i can say is the moderators should be on salary :o

Hi, on first reading I thought you wanted to organize the border run on your own, hence the advice. If you're going to use a visa run company then just let them explain their own procedures to you. Bear in mind if you really want your fiancee to come with you then the company will most likely charge you double the fee - you can try to negotiate this but I've had no luck before. Also, visa runs are not sightseeing tours so if you want to wander around the market... forget it!

if you want to do it on your own...well, that's another story :-)

Hi, yes I intend to 'do it alone' without the services of a visa run company, but will give them a call to see if they can share any advice for my accompanying Thai partner (temp border pass reqd or not) Actually prob best if she stays Thai side as not much to see/do by the sounds of it!? If you have any info which would assist, I would be very grateful, as I am still not 100 percent! and who better to ask, then you fellas here!

Cheers again!
