zenplay
Hello. I will apply for O-A visa with the french embassy. I am preparing all documents and will buy LMG health insurance. I will bring my passport to the embassy on 13th September, get it back on 15th September, and plan to fly on 1st October (after COE process). Regarding the health insurance, what starting date should I ask ?

Immediate effect from the date of signing the contract. You dont have much time and you need the policy documents for proof.
rwill
I would start it the day you expect to arrive in Thailand. When you do an extension they will only give it to you to the date your insurance expires if it is before the date your permission to stay expires.

Speedhump
As far as I am aware, you must make sure that your health insurance will cover you from the start until the expiry date of your visa, and that will be examined when it is being issued. But different embassies are VERY likely to have different views on the application of regulations. Better to get expert advice from visa specialists (they have websites for contact details). As someone else has said, you will need to show them your cover certificate before they will issue your visa. Good luck.
