Recent weeks have seen the emergence of youth-led violent protests at Bangkok’s Din Daeng intersection – in what observers view as a strategy to help support the mainly peaceful anti-establishment movement.

 

Calling themselves Talugas, the usually small groups of protesters come armed with slingshots, firecrackers and small explosives known as “ping-pong bombs”. Clashes then occur with crowd-control police but the protesters often flee the scene as soon as officers begin firing tear gas and rubber bullets.

 

Talugas protesters are accused of setting fire to police vehicles and traffic control kiosks around the Din Daeng intersection.

People are getting sick of the corruption and inept leaders.

The wife says the going rate of pay for these protesters is 2000 baht per day. No corruption there.

She saw it facebook or line, so it must be right ????

Now now children, you cannot have everything your way.

I think it would be a smart idea to have some protests locations where a bit of violence occurs would be a good way to pull the cops there, and leave other places open for larger more peaceful protests that dont then get the rubber bullet/tear gas treatment.

 

Taking advantage of the inability of the thai police to walk and chew gum at the same time seems like a good way to deal with the over the top response of the police we have seen before

So we can attribute that statement of fact to your wife? Is she a reporter for Reuters or AP?

It could be any disaffected political person, either in country, of which there are many, or out.

 

I find it incredible that there are people on here that do not believe that ALL political partys are corrupt, not just the ones in power at the moment. Why the need to only satanise the current ones when their replacement will be just as bad.

Not making a judgement over what your wife heard. But your second paragraph is spot on. They are evil and corrupt and all use the people in similar ways. The similarities are so striking criminals in the ranks on both sides. Turncoats and corruption. All always denying all responsibility its never their fault and we should all believe them no matter how fake it is. Bangkok will not flood.... 2011 still remember it. There are no fake G2G deals (but there were), Then this government with its covid vaccine scandals of we ordered this many but did not. Those watches were of an friend.

Whatever gub'ment is elected, installed, or coup'ed into office is just the public face of the real power, and operate under their silver or lead incentive program.  Do what we want, and get silver- lots of it.  Don't, and you get the lead. (Or, if you're quick enough, run out of the country on political charges)

 

Free and fair elections wouldn't change that, even if they were possible.

Risking there lives to rid Thailand of the most corrupt and inept goverments ever to unlawfully govern Thailand.
