No. How dare you! I'm one of those that he bundles as being "sad"and "depressed" in any reply to a post where his fantasy is not lived by others: I live rurally, am single, and I am a man who used to vacation here with my wife and kids for five years until the divorce. A bit over year later I moved here after spending a few of months seeing if Phuket was enjoyable for more than a couple of weeks at a time. For me, it wasn't. So I looked into KK, which I also didn't like, and then settled on here. In "The Bowels" of Phetchabun. Unlike RR, I haven't been to every province "three times". But I did travel quite extensively in a car I bought in late 2017, until The Plague (which stopped a lot of non-essential travel of and on for a while as you may know) and have only recently (March) driven to Chiang Rai, Sukhothai Bueng Kan, and Nakhon Phanom for the first time. I have friends: Brits, Aussies, and Swedes all over the place but the nearest is in Pattaya - five hours away while Chiang Mai is closer to eight. As well as Kalasin, Sakon Nakhon, Phuket, Krabi. When I go to places like Phuket or Pattaya, I take full advantage of "foreign food" restaurants. And Pattaya Beach Road is where I buy my shirts from each year. A nice Nepalese man out the back without a tax issue... Another member asked if would consider myself a recluse and to some extent I am but it works for me. I am ridiculously social but just choose when and where I choose to be. Yet another member DMed me and pretty much asked why, since Ive been a member since 2012, I HAD only posted 160(?) times and 20 of those were in the last two weeks and why did I suddently start posting'. An interesting question. Originally, I joined Thai Visa for ideas for where the wife and I could go for holidays and where not to, and travel tips. Then in 2015, I looked up visa issues. Then I stayed pretty much silent. The incessant arguments about who speaks Thai better, who knows tourist sites better, as if it's a competition, and all the puerile name-calling that hijack threads, weird topics, and blatant attention-seeking. None of it was educational or entertaining. Then I got bitten by a dog and I posted about the process I went through for rabies and tetanus injections at the district public hospital as - after a scan to see if the subject had been posted recently - there had been recent comments online (BP, another bastion of tools commenting on stuff of which they know nothing) about pricing in hospitals. I put ASEAN Now in my startup tabs to follow any updates or comments on my rabies post and it's stayed there ever since.
