Uk Customs

Featured Replies

I have always wondered if there is a time limit on dutiable goods with regard to taking your purchases home to the UK.

Eg, You bought your laptop in November and you are going home in June.

I ask this because you have 60 days in which to claim back the VAT after your purchase when leaving Thailand.

There seems to be nothing in the HMRC website to answer my question.

My second question is has anyone tried to explain the existence of a Thai keyboard on their laptop!!

And please, no replies stating I should be declaring it. If I wanted to pay an extortionate price, I would have bought one in the UK.

Thanks

Given the amount of people coming through customs in the UK doubt very much they would look twice at anyone carrying through 1 laptop. If you were carrying 10 that might make a difference.
