Daily News reported that a well known boarding school in Jumphon sub-district of Phon Phisai district in Nong Khai in Thailand's north east has been ordered temporarily shut.

The 1000+ pupil Rajaprachanukhro 27 school reopened at the beginning of September but by the second of this month there were two cases of Covid.

This has now ballooned to 353 cases in the last five days. Pupils live, eat and do all activities together that has exacerbated the spread of the virus.

It is thought to have come in on items brought into the school by parents and by pupils mixing in infected areas outside the school.

More tests are underway.

A total of 69 infected people are in Phon Phisai Hospital and 284 have been taken to a Nong Khai field hospital.

Governor Prasert Leuchathananon went to the school and ordered it temporarily closed and cleaned.

A full press conference regarding the situation there will be held today.

ASEAN NOW suggests that this is the biggest school outbreak in Thailand by far since the pandemic began last year.

Yet they won't count them on the actual case totals unless a PCR test was done. ATK test kit positives only count to isolate or quarantine you with the green charia and favipirivar.  I was under the opinion that schools were closed except for online learning. Was this a school where the children were boarded?

Yes they were boarded but if there was still spread in the community and low vaccination rates then it was inevitable.

Nothing to see here!

Pinocchio has already told us Covid is totally under control and in decline, open the country up send the kids back to school.

Phuket sandbox excellent with not that many dead and only one tourist was murdered recently and just a few hundred new covid cases a day........

At least 10% of the population fully vaccinated with a Chinese world class vaccine and only a 35% positive daily test rate so whats not to like?
