Thailand's ministry of foreign affairs spokesman Thanee Saengrat said that improvements in the Covid-19 pandemic situation in South Asia has led to all nationals in five nations now being eligible again for Certificates of Entry (CoE) into Thailand.

Permission was given by the CCSA for Indian, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and the Maldives to have the full rights to CoE.

Visitors will still need to follow protocols such as quarantine.

Thanee said all embassies and consulates in the countries concerned were informed of the decision last Friday, reported Daily News.

ASEAN NOW notes that Thailand's Tourism Authority has been upbeat in recent weeks about the prospect of welcoming back Indian tourists in particular.

Marketers have been actively engaging in marketing plans to woo Indians stating that demand is high and many will come to Thailand when restrictions are lifted.

Before the pandemic Indians were one of Thailand's leading and fastest growing markets for foreign tourists.

Many are high spenders and the wedding in Thailand market is particularly lucrative.
