On Thursday, Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay and Speaker of Turkey's Grand National Assembly Mustafa Sentop paid a visit to the Indonesia Pavilion at the Teknofest 2021 exhibition in Istanbul.

PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI), a state-owned aerospace business, updated the Turkish vice president on its CN-235 and N-219 aircraft, as well as the R-80 aircraft project being manufactured by PT Regio Aviasi Industri, during the visit (RAI).

According to a written statement issued by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Ankara on Saturday, Vice President Oktay lauded Indonesia's aerospace expertise.

“In the technological sector, Turkey and Indonesia have had a long-standing tight relationship.
"I saw the PTDI-built CN-235 aircraft on the runway, which we utilise for the Turkish Armed Forces and Coast Guard Command," he said.

While praising Indonesia's participation in the exhibition, he was particularly enthusiastic about seeing PT RAI's R-80 aircraft, which was designed by former Indonesian President (the late) BJ Habibie, who was a longtime friend of former Turkish Prime Minister (the late) Necmettin Erbakan.

The Turkish Vice President stated, "I completely welcome the relationship between the Indonesian and Turkish aerospace sectors."

The Turkish vice president and speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey received an aeroplane model from PTDI as a souvenir at the end of their visit.

Meanwhile, Dionissius Elvan Swasono, Minister Counselor of the embassy, was present.

Indonesia was a special guest at the Teknofest in 2021, Europe's largest and most prestigious technology festival.

The event drew a total of nine important Indonesian educational, scientific, and technology development institutes.

National Research and Innovation Agency, state-owned railway vehicles manufacturer PT Industri Kereta Api Indonesia, Bandung Institute of Technology, Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology, University of Indonesia, Artha Graha Group, and climate tech start-up Carbon Addons were among the institutions.
