I've known Sean for many years. He's a pleasant bloke; he's generous, polite and very good company.

He's well aware of the intricacies of the visa business in Thailand, especially the visa regulations. He'd be a fool to buck the system because of that and because of the risk to his family and his Company "The Visa Shop". Yes, he does operate in the "short-cut visa trade"and he warns the customer of the risks, but it depends on the customers wallet and needs. He does help people to obtain genuine visas also.

I think that he's been set up for something else, possibly even by the Immigration Office. He does do some "negotiation" with the Immigration Police on behalf of visa transgressors and, maybe, this has finally come home to roost.

there are several people i know of that will be very dissapointed with this news, they where pursueing him for damages due to visa arrests at PI, there have been many cases recently detected by pattaya Img, they where all obtained through sean, PI where aware of this, my guess would be he was stitched up, the local authority decided to shut him down....too much heat

I know a few people who will be puckering up on their next border run!! Sounds like their passports may not have crossed international boarders and returned like they were told!!

wow. this thread is getting more intersting by the day!!! now i am thinking, why did his shop (the visa shop) look rather empty yesterday when i went past there...

i thought it was closed or re decorating, or maybe a coffee break??? i dunno,,,,,, i will have to keep on watching and waiting. sounds to me, reading the previous threads on here, like some sucker fell for his brummy or scouser accent and is now in deep S*** due to this sean fella. i pity them and am sorry for anyone who fell for his charm and sweet talk and opened there wallets for visas or stamps for thailand that are not legal.

Wow, wow....I wonder how many businesses operating in Pattaya like this.....

Despite the fact that he is a nice fellow....it is not ok...

a brummie or a scouser, whatever!! i nice guy or not a nice guy, whatever !!

the facts are here in this thread, whether he is from liverpool or birmingham doesnt really make any difference here in pattaya,,,, if he is a nice guy to have a beer with, or not, it doesnt really make any difference.

the facts are, is he running a legal and above board in his buisness ??? can anyone trust him anymore after this...... i will be sticking with my visa shop that i have used for many years, and i will be able to sleep at night time knowing that i am legal and above board.

I have also know Sean for many years and he has never done the wrong thing by me. Only ever tried to help me.

My thoughts are that he has up-set one of the boys in Immigration and it was pay back time or more tea money needed.

Lets wait and see the out come before we convict him.

Another article in this weeks Pattaya People newspaper regarding Immigration Department..........

The Pattaya Immigration Department has been given strict orders to inspect foreign tourists that are residing in Pattaya since many were found to be overstaying. There is now a new law in operation of Hotels,

Apartments, Condominiums and Guest Houses having to inform the Immigration Department of where foreigners entering the Kingdom of Thailand reside.

In the afternoon of 23rd May both Pattaya Immigration Chief, Police Colonel, Ittipol Ittisarnronnachai and Pattaya Police Chief, Police Colonel Suthin Sappuang and their teams went to inspect foreigners residing at the Niran Grand Ville located in Soi Arunothai. The officers knocked on every door in the building having foreigners residing in and inspected their passports to see if their visa had expired or not?

On that day the officers discovered that 5 room owners did not inform the Immigration Department of having foreign tourists residing at their residences and one Russian tourist that had overstayed for 1 year. The room owners are now being contacted to be reminded and the Russian was escorted out to be fined for overstaying.

So be warned, there will be more spot inspections like this around Pattaya from now on to make sure that everyone is obeying the rules. These inspections are made because the authorities want foreigners to stay in Pattaya legally.

:o

Overstayed for 1 year and he's only getting fined ? Or did the reporter just get lazy and not think about what the normal penalties for overstaying would be ? (i.e. jail-time until the fine is paid, then deportation with the 99 year black-listing)

Or have the rules on over-stay been changed ? :D

I don't think he needs any ' Setting up .'

If what you say is correct. he was making a profit by falsely/ ilegally obtaining Visas, so he has been arrested. No matter how good a guy he is to have a beer with, Thai Immigration Police are just doing their job.

I kinda feel sorry for the people who will get caught out with falsely obtained visas in their passports, though if they realised the risks and knew that the visas would not be 100%, then they also must face the music.

Talking to a group of guys last night about this and they said he has been sending passports out the country for a long time to get visas, or in some casses not even out the country.

Also some other guy involved with the visa shop called Jim did a runner a few years back over the same sort of thing.

Is there any truth in all this, anyone know.

If so then sounds like his getting what he asked for.

Really? Why? What do you need a shop for in the first place - getting a visa is not rocket science you know ...

Ohh .. People do go to visa shops for advice on new Visa Rules / visa runs, Its not rocket science you know!!

Why would you ask a visa shop with a guy who probably get the answers from Thai Visa, easier to get the lowdown right here :o

Need a visa shop to go on a visa run!

Posted

Yep.. Not illegal to go on a visa run (And Im not talking about the monthly trips)

Does it matter anyway? If someone wants to go to a Visa shop, then they can go to a Visa shop.
