At the end of Pattaya Second Road left side before the Circle opposite Terminal 21 had a new Construction Fence gone up. Prime Location. Good Size Area. Anyone in the Know what's going there ?

Just a little bit up the Soi Naklua are 2 new 5 Star Hotels being built .

One is the ,, Akara ,,

Other one Centre Point 2

Scheduled to open next High Season. 2022

Akara was originally due to open about now but until the Chinese and others return there really isn't any need. All the properties closed on the LHS of Soi 33 and those round the corner on the main road are due to be demolished to apparently make way for required landscaping and parking for Akara.

My partner and I noticed this construction fence has gone up, as well.  Seems to be a quite large piece of property with an old low-rise hotel and some shops on it.  Definitely a prime location and it will be interesting to see what is built on it.

This part of Pattaya, already one of the most desirable areas of the city with Dusit, Holiday Inn, Amari, Northshore and others, really jumped up a few notches more when T21 and Grand Centre Point 1 arrived.  Grand Centre Point 2 and Akara will only add to that, as did Mytt Hotel and the new Amari Suites.  As I've said before, it's interesting to note that all this new, nice development is about as far from Walking Street as you can get and still be on or near Pattaya Beach.

So they are going to build a circular pool and stock it with dolphins?  Flipper should be happy as a clam!  "Ek ek ek ek ek! Chit chit chit chit chit."  <flips in the air>

And we thought Pattaya was overrun with traffic before the pandemic. Returning to live there is fading more and more into the distance.

It's looking like general costs are going to go up as the fancy residences draw more people with money and flood the area with maybe even fancier restaurants and the often rumoured casinos. I mean, something big must be coming with building corporations betting billions of baht on such hotel and condo monstrosities. I am aware of a Thai hotel resort company that has plans and the land there.

It's getting harder to think that these companies are building a future ghost town.

Both those developments started pre-covid and work on them has been continuous throughout the pandemic. Blind faith or astute business acumen?

LOL. That's basically what happened when they built Promenada shopping mall in Chiang Mai. Must have cost a very large pile of money to erect, and virtually empty of shoppers apart from the supermarket.

Having the immigration there probably doubled the visitor numbers, IMO.

It's top appease the Baht Bus Mafia, all new developments have to be farthest away from Walking Street so everyone has to use a Baht Bus to get there and back.

Next 'high season'?  When was the last HS?  If memory serves me right it was about 8 years ago. There is so much BS spoken about travelling seasons in tourism. They disappeared from view years ago, when long haul holidays become more affordable for Westerners.

Blind stupidly or money laundering, take your pick.
