Photo: Radio Thailand Phuket PHUKET: Phuket Governor has warned all vendors selling food and other goods as part of the Vegetarian Festival to not engage in any hoarding of produce or products to artificially inflate prices or to overcharge customers for any goods. The warning came during an official press conference held yesterday (Oct 7). “The Phuket Vegetarian Festival is held each year to uphold the traditions of Phuket people’s forefathers. Therefore, Phuket Province [the provincial government] has issued an announcement alerting operators to not hoard goods or take advantage of the opportunity to raise prices for goods and services,” Governor Narong said. It’s a festival not a shop/market/supermarket, vendors can sell whatever they choose to and charge what they like. People can vote with their feet if they don’t like the selection or price.
