SA KAEO, 8 October 2021 (NNT) - Deputy Prime Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan on Friday visited Sa Kaeo province to inspect water management plans and issues related to land ownership.

Gen Prawit’s visit started with a briefing on the overview on comprehensive water management and flood mitigation plans for the eastern region, the latest progress on the royally initiated Huai Saton reservoir development project, the flood mitigation plan for Sa Kaeo, and the efforts to solve land rights issue in the province’s Wang Somboon district.

The deputy premier urged all agencies to be on the alert for possible flash floods in high-risk areas, and to be well prepared for flooding through the remainder of this year’s rainy season.

Gen Prawit asked the agencies to redirect water flow away from the city, and try to reserve some water for future use during the dry season.

He ordered them to get the public more involved in water management.

The provincial subcommittee on water resources will establish cooperation with Cambodia for high-level water management, including flood drainage.

Gen Prawit then visited the construction site of Huai Prom Hod watergate and pumping station, where he inquired into issues faced by the locals, as well as local authorities’ effort to address them. These inputs will be incorporated into the creation of a comprehensive plan to enhance the livelihoods of people in the area.
