June 4, 200719 yr The Crowboy's got the Blues - good to see that! Brown Eyed Girl was earlier in our setlist, but has been scrapped for some harder stuff. We played everything with a rougher edge than the original (with the exception of AC/DC...I mean...it is just not possible to play that rougher....) but China Girl for instance was rather was rather resembling to a Stones number than the Bowie original... If there are any musicians in Pattaya area interested in doing something....I'm in! Keyboarder and a lead guitar player would be perfect, we've got a drummer and bass player on standby.
June 4, 200719 yr The Crowboy's got the Blues - good to see that! Oh yeah - long time lover of the blues. Long time ago I was in a band called the Black Crows but about our third gig we discovered that there was a band with a similar name so we had to drop it - they made a lot more money than us, may have had something to do with them having talent Brown Eyed Girl was earlier in our setlist, but has been scrapped for some harder stuff. I learned the song a long time ago and it has been an in and out part of my set list since. I use it because like Gloria and various other Van Morrison songs everyone knows it even if they don't know who wrote it. Also it forms a group of songs that drop the tempo of the set and make it more accessable for the girls to listen to. The bars used to like us to do a cycle of hot and hard then a couple of slow songs so that the punters would go to the bar and buy drinks, which was the primary purpose of us being there. When they had bought the next round we would do three songs from a Deep Purple, Whitesnake, UFO, MSG or similar then back to a couple of ballads. Made the set list kind of weird and eclectic but it worked. We played everything with a rougher edge than the original (with the exception of AC/DC...I mean...it is just not possible to play that rougher....) but China Girl for instance was rather was rather resembling to a Stones number than the Bowie original... Stevie Ray Vaughan played the guitar bits for that song and most of the album. Bowie had seen him at the Montreaux Blues Festival and asked him to play. Jackson Browne had also seen him play and loved it (despite the crowd infamously booing SRV because he played Voodoo Chile). Browne gave Vaughan studio time and tape in his personal studio and they played their set - became the album Texas Flood and the rest in history. If there are any musicians in Pattaya area interested in doing something....I'm in! Keyboarder and a lead guitar player would be perfect, we've got a drummer and bass player on standby. Come up for the CM TV pissup on 18 August and bring your guitar. I think I have been volunteered to play on the night which is going to be scary. What do you play? Guitar wise. I have a couple of Fender strats, a Les Paul, and a '52 reissue tele. Main guitar is my Fender Texas Fat strat. CB Edited June 4, 200719 yr by Crow Boy
June 5, 200719 yr whish I could go to the piss-up...but it's too much going on here at the moment and I cannot be away for a couple of days as I would like to stay not only for the piss-up to make it worth-while. Interesting collection of guitars you've got, though! I love the Teles but always played guitars with a Floyd Rose. Strats are ok, but I never wanted to have one of my own as everybody has one and I don't want to have what everybody has...

Interesting collection of guitars you've got, though! I love the Teles but always played guitars with a Floyd Rose. Strats are ok, but I never wanted to have one of my own as everybody has one and I don't want to have what everybody has... I don't like the messing about with a Floyd but one of my Fender Strats has a FR and locking nut. I used to do a lot of Van Halen, Cinderella, Motley Crue etc and trying to do a dive bomb and pull up on a standard Strat is just too messy. I love Fenders - I bought my first one after years of copies and it was a big deal for me. The LP was something I have always wanted but never had the money to get the one I wanted. Then mine came in as a 5Aplus Maple Top and I had the money from a contract at the time. I got a call from a friend who worked in a specialist guitar store and he persuaded me to buy it over the phone. I bought it sight unseen and it is worth every cent. I dragged my guitar collection, a Fender De Ville 2x12 and Marshall Bluesbreaker hand wired amp with me to Thailand. I have a love/hate affair with teles but really love the '52. There is a guy up here in CM with and original, one owner (him) of a '52 that he bought in California the year it came out. He has the original receipt and tags in the case. He is a really good player but bought it originally as a joke. Are you playing much in Pattaya? I don't go south much due to work constraints but I really want to get to the Pattaya Blues festival next year. CB
June 6, 200719 yr writing embroidery making and designing cakes (for different occasions) mixing drinks (when I have my own little bar)
June 7, 200719 yr Play Guitar, sing, write and act. All amateurishly, though I ooze talent. I would love to get back in acting: haven't done for years. I sporadically play gigs, depending on where I live, what I do... Above all though, it would seem writing is the thing I should concentrate my efforts on. Pity Thaivisa exists, cos otherwise I might actually spend my time to do something creative. That certainly seems to go hand in hand with another of your unmentioned creative talents, Kayo. The title of the book might read: "1001 Sexual Positions Illustrated."
June 7, 200719 yr I play Sax but not enough as i would like to. Too ruddy noisy, so you have to pick the right time for practising. Especially scales, they drive me nuts, never mind the neighbours. I act, sing and dance in the amatuers. Done most shows from Pirates of Penzanse to Chess to Oliver. It's a great hobby. I have also been in Coronation Street 3 times in the last month alone (just as an extra). One day i will write a book. I already have it planned out and the whole plot sketched but after finishing my Thesis for my Masters, i just can't be ars3d writing at the moment. So if there's a ghost writer out there, maybe we could team up Edited June 7, 200719 yr by mrbojangles

So if there's a ghost writer out there, maybe we could team up I shared a house once with a sax player and a drummer. In the year were were there 6 of our near neighbours moved. Can't imagine why Could have been worse - my younger brother's two kids are learning the violin <eeeeeeeeeeeeccccccccchhhhh) and a friend in Oz teaches Bagpipes to schoolkids from his home. CB
June 8, 200719 yr My first post in bedlam, Anyway as some will know that outside of real estate Im a bit of a gaming geek and play with a group who have taken comic book character names. (yeh yeh I know) anyway I like to play around and make forum signatures, its not much more than cut and paste in photoshop really but then again I guess so is collage. Here are a few signatures that I made friends over the years: I know its a bit out of keeping, just happened to have been inspired by the credits at the end of the movie 300. Yes I know the images are not originals but I have made these just for fun its purely fan based work so I understand that it is acceptable under "fair use terms" (I hope) Edited June 8, 200719 yr by quiksilva
