There is a school behind our property grades Maw 1-6. Last week Wednesday I got a call from one of the English teachers asking if she could bring students by for a visit to our house over the next three Fridays. Maw 2 last week Friday (39 students), Maw 1 yesterday (45 students), and Maw 3 next week Friday.

We have a small fish farm and she basically just wanted me to spend a couple of hours giving the students a tour of the farm and teach the kids some English in the process. We gave all of them bottled water at the beginning and orange drink cups at the end. So far the 2 visits have been kinda fun for me dueto the questions the kids ask.

After the first tour the teacher presented me with a beautiful school medallion. So here's the question. I would like to reciprocate in someway but am not sure what is appropraite. Do any of you teachers have any suggestions or ideas?

A story from yesterday's visist.

After the tour we were drinking some orange juice and one of the girl students started talking to my wife off to the side. Now this is a Maw 1, 12 year old student, and she says to my wife. "Look around at this class. It's almost all girls and the small number of boys are all "toots"!!!

Well, the medallion was the school's way of thanking you for *your* service, so there's not much more need than to say thanks- maybe make it clear they're welcome to come again next year? Invite the teachers over for coffee sometime?

I suppose you are farang.

Well, needless to say, you being there right in the school's backyard is already a gift of heaven for every brown person in sight.

Sometimes, it's just so cool to be different!

:o

It's really so nice of you to accommodate all of them.

And oh, what kind of fish do youhave in your pond?

Thanks for your input. I'll definately make sure to invite them to bring a class by anytime as I probably had as much fun as the kids did. Thought about giving them some fish but not very convenient for them as they came for the tour at 9am. Can you picture a bag of fish in the teachers loungs all day!!

We grow catfit! At least that's what one student said after we toured the first pond and I asked what kind of fish these were. Very cute trying to get them to say catfiSH.

Thanks again.

Well you have been very warm to allow the school to visit your house for the field trip given your time , and even invested money howevr little , drinks and all. that to not one batch but a couple of them . And rightfully the school has given a momento , they could have given some other token of thanks too! As for u your involvement in the process is very commendable. I am sure they must have clicked a couple of pics , and u too would have , if u are very keen then send one pic from your camera in soft copt form. A question did the children draw the pictures of the fishes they saw? Did they understand what an ecosystem is ? Are the students expected to make a PPT ?Did they have a pre visit , during the vist and post visit worksheets and activities ? You could suggest that you were keen to know the filed trip plan that the school must have done .
