I will be flying with my wife to the US, I will stay there for 3 days for business meetings and my wife will stay with my friends during my meetings (in the same city). We will then fly to Canada to meet my relatives then fly back to the US to fly back to Thailand. Really, we will only be changing planes in the US to return to Thailand but when you leave Canada to go to the US, you are entering the US and I am thinking that a 2nd visa is required. Perhaps, I can be educated here too on if this is correct or not.

My wife is a Thai citizen, I'm Canadian, (we'll bring our 2 yr old son who is dual Canuck/Thai).

We already have the visa for Canada and are already working on getting the US visa for my wife. However, I couldn't find the answer by using the search function as to whether or how to get a dual entry for my wife into the US.

Can somebody clarify for me if getting a dual visa is as easy (or difficult) as getting a single entry and are there any gotcha's?

We have only paid the 456 baht fee for the appointment so far. I wonder if I need to buy the $100 visa application fee twice or not.

Any help on these logistic would be appreciated.

BTW, some further info. My wife does not own land or assets, we are legally married, she is still a very few credits shy of finishing her bach degree. I am a US resident and Canadian citizen but have an int'l position so spend a great deal of time in Thailand, but not a resident. My income is described as high and I work for a US company.

Yes, she'll need a multiple or dual entry visa, since re-entering the US on the way back to Thailand will require a visa, even if only for a quick change of planes.

By the way, that you are a US resident and don't actually live with your wife on a permanent basis in Thailand is not going to help her visa application.

Almost all visas these days are 10 year multi entry. Sometimes they do only give a single entry 3 month validity, but only the fist time in rare cases.

Other poster is correct, with you not living in Thailand, it is not going to be easy to convince them she is not going to the US to stay for good with you.
