BANGKOK (NNT) - As Thailand will be reopening to foreign tourists on November 1, representatives from many agencies met with the prime minister today (19 Oct.) to discuss the reopening. The prime minister asked all parties to pitch in their efforts and also to consider holding concerts during the New Year’s to stimulate tourism and the economy.

Tourism and Sports Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn led representatives from the Tourism Council of Thailand and the Thai Restaurant Association to meet with Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha to receive and discuss the government policy of lifting the quarantine requirement for tourists arriving in Thailand.

The prime minister thanked every party that has provided their cooperation toward making preparations for the country’s reopening, and asked the tourism ministry to consider, with input from relevant agencies, the possibility of holding New Year’s activities that would be collaboratively organized by the public and private sectors.

The focus was on the feasibility of holding concerts by Thai artists in various provinces as well as in Bangkok.

According to the prime minister, these activities would provide relief to artists who have been heavily impacted by COVID-19 and stimulate tourism at the end of the year. Gen. Prayut added that Cabinet meetings in November will be held in provinces that were piloting tourism reopening.

The prime minister also met with representatives from the Foundation for Life Development Under the Patronage of H.R.H. Princess Galyani Vadhana Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra, who were publicizing white cheesewood products to raise funds for the foundation’s various projects.

'provide relief to artists who have been heavily impacted'? I doubt he meant hit, or struck with something. It's just the reporter using the new fashionable in word. There is no doubt that artists and others in the entertainment world have been affected badly. As have many in other professions and industries. But they haven't been impacted. Grrrrr????

Open is still TBD depending on the definition.  As for asking.. well, how about getting your people vaccinated if you really are worried about them?

They're working on it, but only as fast as donated vaccines come in.

They will all be heading to Scotland, legally guaranteed to be safe.

The Scottish government's vaccine passport scheme has become enforceable by law from Monday morning.

Nightclubs and large events, like some football matches, will only be able to allow entry to people who can show they have had two doses of a Covid vaccine.

and just what is this unelected PM going to contribute to the reopening of Thailand?

All he doing is coming away with nonsense to extract as much money as they can from tourists, by their quarantines, which the other Chuckle Brother will not name, the $100.000 insurance scam, over expensive PCRs, and he is also talking about 500Bt, what's that charge supposed to be for again? ????

The unelected PM and his soldiers make the crazed SNP look like the Munchkins from The Wizard of Oz.
