I went wi airasia.com package, said hotel was 5 mins to twin towers, was 15 mins on skytrain! but if you look on that website it offers about 10 hotels and gives details to areas etc.

price and hotel was good, and embassy is a 5/10 min walk from a skytrain line so no real probs to be fair, dont forget you gotta get your passport in before i think its 12 or 12.30 any later and has to go in next day which is one more night hotel and a change of flight.

i did above stright from airport to embaqssy just made it then went to hotel had loads of problems checking in as i didnt have a passport!!!

adds to fun!!

best o luck

There is a big hotel over road from embassy sorry i cant remember its name but you could phone embassy (looked expensive)

big english drinking area near twin towers just over a small park you might just chance a hotel thier.

Thanks a lot for the help, I think the big hotel is the Crown Princess from what I can gather from the websites

over 2000 baht a night and I'm just a poor country boy so from what you say I think it'll be The Tunes and maybe a good idea to go straight to the embassy from the airport and get the stressful bit out of the way.

Thanks again.

Nice hotels in KL will cost at least 150 RM and up, but this of course depends on what you consider nice. I'm talking 3 stars minimum with room service and buffet breakfast included. There are lots of budget hotels around the 100 RM mark, but I wouldn't like to use them.

It doesn't matter where the hotel is in relation to the embassy as regular taxis (get one to use the meter) are cheap with a 2 RM flagfall plus 0.10 RM per 150 meters. eg. A ride from the Petronas Towers all the way to Mid-Valley Megamall cost under 10 RM. Chinatown to Petronas towers was under 5 RM. Chinatown to KL Sengral (Skybus) was under 5 RM. Taxis will definitely not break your bank.

If you negotiate a fare instead of using the meter, the prices will be double and triple these mentioned above. The best way to get the taxis to use the meter is just to hop in and tell him where you want to go rather than standing outside the taxi telling him your destination. If there is a taxi rank, use it as they will always use their meter. One warning: There are about 4 different grades of taxis that charge different rates (on the meter). The prices I mentioned above are for regular budget taxis.

Tunes Hotel is in the city centre. You need to book well in advance to obtain their 9.9 RM promotional price. I tried to book them 4 days in advance and a room with a 12-hour aircon add-on (you pay extra for aircon use) was going to cost me 85 RM. That's a lot of money for a tiny box of a room with no TV, and even no towels.
