In conjunction with UNICEF Indonesia, Kimberly-Clark Softex's (PT Softex Indonesia) #DariSaudari social campaign has helped to improve the health and hygiene behaviours of thousands of girls in districts and cities across Eastern Indonesia.

Kimberly-Clark Softex supports UNICEF Indonesia with an annual grant of Rp. 1,500,000,000 (Indonesian Rupiah) ($106,000 US dollars) for their WASH programmes and the promotion of OKY, a UNICEF integrated educational app, as a trusted source of information on health and menstrual hygiene, through the #DariSaudari social campaign.
By October 2021, the #DariSaudari initiative has improved WASH access in 1,327 schools in six districts/cities, including Timika, Sorong, and Kupang, allowing over a thousand girls to benefit from safe and friendly facilities.

#DariSaudari carries the passion of Kimberly-Clark Softex customers to promote the accomplishment of a higher health standard for Indonesia's next generation, as the name implies.
Since its inception in 2019, the campaign has aided UNICEF Indonesia's efforts to improve access to safe drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) while also promoting OKY, UNICEF's integrated educational app on menstrual health and hygiene, as a reliable source of information. The campaign was designed to help build a safer and friendlier environment for young girls in underdeveloped areas of Papua, West Papua, South Sulawesi, and East Nusa Tenggara through product purchases.

“#DariSaudari campaign demonstrates our commitment to improving the lives and opportunities of girls by giving access to safe and friendly hygiene facilities and being equipped with healthy behaviour knowledge, especially to those living in rural areas,” says Hendra Setiawan, president director of Kimberly-Clark Softex.

We have helped young women and girls better manage their hygiene and health as a result of our relationship with UNICEF Indonesia.
Kimberly-Clark Softex shares the same objective as UNICEF and our customers, who have helped their sisters in the east by participating in the #DariSaudari social campaign to prepare healthier Indonesian girls."

Kimberly-Clark Softex has been continuously paying close attention to the accessibility of knowledge and proper sanitation facilities, in line with the government's goal of improving the health and well-being of teenagers by ensuring access to reproductive health information and facilities, as outlined in the Ministry of Health's Strategic Plan for 2020-2024.
According to data from the Ministry of Health, 70.1 percent of Indonesian females aged 10 to 19 had begun their period, demonstrating the significance of integrating menstrual hygiene management instruction, particularly in schools. Kimberly-Clark Softex's partnership with UNICEF Indonesia through the #DariSaudari social campaign - which has reached thousands of schools and teenagers - is a tangible manifestation of the company's commitment to assisting the Indonesian government in achieving its goal of a healthier nation and universal personal hygiene.

"Menstruation affects all women, but one in every two Indonesian girls has inadequate knowledge of menstrual hygiene management."
UNICEF works with the government and the commercial sector to close this gap," says Debora Comini, UNICEF Indonesia's representative.
"We have already made significant progress in Papua and Nusa Tenggara, offering a safer and friendlier environment for young women, thanks to our relationship with Kimberly-Clark Softex Indonesia."
