Thailand on Saturday (October 30) reported 9,244 new COVID-19 cases, 8,305 recoveries and 88 additional deaths over the past 24 hours.

▶︎ Total infections since April 1: 1,874,302

▶︎ Total recoveries since since April 1: 1,76,449

Saturday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 1,903,165 with 19,158 deaths.

The news comes as the Thai Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will soon start reviewing proposals for the emergency use of three COVID-19 vaccines for young children. It is now awaiting safety and efficacy related data from manufacturers.

The Department of Disease Control (DDC) said the Thai FDA is now awaiting the submission of safety and efficacy data from Sinovac, Sinopharm, and Pfizer to extend the emergency use of these COVID-19 vaccines to young children.

DDC Director-General Dr. Opart Karnkawinpong said the vaccines, which are now available in Thailand, can immediately be administered for children after receiving the emergency authorization from the Thai FDA, after the review of relevant data.

Just two days to go before the official re-opening of Thailand and with WHO Thailand reporting yesterday that "COVID infections remain very widespread and absolute case numbers remain high, reflecting significant transmission in communities. There is also incomplete information about the number of people self-testing positive with the antigen test kits that are now widely available, making the situation more difficult to accurately assess."

So it appears we are experiencing a gentle wave of increasing cases, then decreasing cases, that is by what the government numbers report.

However, my view is that we are at a plateau where the numbers may never decrease further downward but instead continue to porpoise up and down.

Looking at Brians post and the graph it appears we are in the bottom of a trough and continuing onward adinfinum just like many months ago before we saw the spike in cases.

To me this is worrisome with what WHO reports and then the opening Monday.

I understood that when Sinovac stock was depleted end of this month that no further supplies would be ordered and now the FDA is awaiting the submission of safety and efficacy data from Sinovac in order that this can be administered to young children.  How much stock do they actually have left?

Latest data from the worldometer ranking table for deaths/million of population over the past 7 days, including yesterday’s numbers, shows Thailand up one place at 71st in the world, 27 places below the UK.

Same table shows Thailand remain at 14th in Asia, 4 places below the Philippines and 6 places above Vietnam.

The number of deaths over the past week remains at 6 deaths/million of population, down 11% over the 7 day period, with the number of official infections also falling 10%

They said they would be ordering no more when stocks finish and there was no need to use it again after Oct, they even had some pretty graphs demonstrating this.

However when Prayut who received 2 AZ and has now received his booster of Pfizer before anyone else in need or any official announcement of when it will happen to the general public, there's little hope of believing any announcements made, certainly thats the evidence demonstrated so far by officials.

Plateau in testing = plateau in numbers. 1000 prisoner number like so many thousands of others has dissappeared. ATK numbers have been relatively low ever since the RDA came out with their statement. PCP testing one of the lowest in the world. Numbers designed for the agenda and the gullible.

An off topic post has been removed.  Please post in the relevant topics in the Thai News forum.

The numbers appear to be increasing again don’t be surprised if we have another lockdown before Christmas ☹️☹️☹️

CCSA situation report today. Slide showing graphs of ICU in downward trend. Those intubated on ventilators also showing a trend down.

However covid deaths are trending up from the 17th Oct.

Not budging from that rank for a long time unless a country below them has an explosion of cases.

Or if Thailand starts testing as it should.

Well which ever way the fan boys want to interpret this Thailand was 177. Fairly sure the response we be deaths overall. Deaths since Delta hit would see Thailand a lot higher.

Great effort.

Another day over one million doses administered. At this rate the 70% fully vaccinated target across the country by year end should be comfortably met.
