Daily News had a report that was little more than a police public relations exercise designed to show that they were doing their job and that restaurants were complying with the 9 pm last orders, notes ASEAN NOW.

But the media said the police were sent it at 8.30 pm so it was no wonder that no one was breaking the law!

Pol Col Piyarach Supharat said that he and his teams were sent in by met chief Lt-Gen Samran Nuanma to check up on the Chong Charoen restaurant in Rama IV.

The place is SHA approved so it can serve alcohol until 9 pm.

Piyarach said that around 40 people were in the restaurant having a wonderful time.

Daily News had a picture of several people at a table - they had blurred out the yellow liquid on the table in case readers found themselves corrupted by the "demon drink"!

All the Covid protocols as per the SHA requirements were being followed such as temperature checks and distancing.

And most importantly no one was drinking after 9 pm.

Even though it was 8.30.

Many have said that the 9 pm last orders order is absurd and people in the industry have called for it to be much later and even for pubs and clubs to reopen.

But the authorities persist in making sure the ban is upheld without providing any concrete evidence that it effects the Covid-19 numbers in the slightest.

The ban in general has particularly come under fire as Thailand re-opened to foreign tourists on Monday. Many have said online that while such measures persist they are not coming back to the kingdom.
