Pattaya – A 56-year-old Thai national was arrested at the Pattaya Music Festival 2021 in the early hours of this morning, November 7th, for reportedly carrying an entire cannabis plant to the concert near Pattaya beach.

The plant was reportedly found explicitly inside a pickup truck with a Bangkok license plate while provincial police officials were patrolling around the concert area.

Car owner Somboon Sachan came back to his vehicle after the end of the concert at around 1:30 AM. on Sunday to find a group of officials surrounding his truck, waiting for him.

Somboon allegedly admitted to being the illegal plant owner and said that he was a Carabao fan and was going to meet and give the plant to another fan. He claimed that he was not planning to smoke the plant at the concert.

Outstanding stupidity to claim not to be a smoker but a supplier

It's all a misunderstanding, the rules say no mass gathering  but you can bring a friend.

Let the poor fool go, he obviously is a couple of bottles short of a six pack, you have to look at the plant, 1-2 foot and looks like it's just got out of a nursery concentration camp, might be worth 20 bht. if that, really have to laugh at Thai officialdom for wasting time, should have just been taken and destroyed no fuss no fanfare.

Do they not understand that this was a helpful citizen's contribution to Thailands bid to become a hub for herbal medicines?

Good...thanks for the info, sport.

Many people have "comfort pets" maybe this is a "comfort plant".  Thai police need to be sensitive to the guy's mental health needs.
