A Tourist Police press conference from the Suvarnabhumi fire station announced the resolution to two scamming cases.

In the first many victims aged 40+ had arrived at Suvarnabhumi airport on October 10th expecting to board a flight to Australia and work in that country.

When they got to the airport they realized they had been conned and there was no booking and no work.

Their plight was investigated resulting in the arrest of a woman called Mattika, 34, and a man called Hassadee, 46, reported Daily News.

Working with another gang member they had set up a Facebook page that was forever changing its profile.

Once victims were obtained they would be directed to Line where further chat resulted.

Falling into the 40+ age group meant they would find it difficult to get the documents to work abroad in Australia which meant they were easy prey for the gang.

In total the victims were charged 141,000 for their flight and other arrangements and total losses were 4 million baht.

In another case that resembled a romance scam a woman called Thiwaporn, 35, who was working with her Thai husband was arrested.

Posing as an individual called "Mogan Melissa" on Line they convinced a victim that a parcel containing valuables had arrived for her at Don Muang airport.

After the victim parted with 45,000 baht in bogus duty payments the gang continued with a ruse that a scan of the package had revealed it contained 30 million baht's worth of US dollars.

The victim was then extorted out of a further 1,595,000 baht.

The person arrested claimed they were only the presser of an ATM for their Thai husband.
