Two more military officers involved with weapons trafficking arrested

Military officers suspected of being involved with the weapons trafficking case in Battambang have been arrested. The Commander of the National Gendarmerie, General Sao Sokha, stated that three military officers have been arrested for their suspected involvement with the recent weapons trafficking case in Battambang. Two were arrested in Siem Reap and one was arrested in Kampong Chhnang.

 

Only one of three officers were identified, Aun Piseth, a Brigadier General in the General Department of Technical Equipment of the Ministry of National Defence. The two were reported to be the former Deputy Chief of a military division and the third is an ordinary military officer.

 

All three have been sent to court for their trial over their suspected suspicion of being involved with the illegal arms trade. Their arrest was done by a joint force of military and police officers.
