June 5, 200719 yr The boyfriend and I got our medicals done today for immigration to Canada. There is only one clinic in ChiangMai that is authorized to perform them. The experience was pleasant enough. The doctor did a rudimentary check of eyes, ears, throat, heart, lungs, pulse, and blood pressure. In addition, he took blood and urine samples. The focus of the exam is to look for contageous diseases as well as anything that would be costly for the canadian healthcare system. Afterwards, we were sent to another site to get chest x-rays, then brought the developed x-rays back to the original clinic for review. We provided forms that had been sent by Canadian Immigration, four pictures (each) and our passports. The medical reviews cost us 2,500 Baht (each) plus 150 Baht (each) for the x-rays. An appointment probably wasn't necessary, but it gave peace of mind. We were in and out in about an hour.
