PM: COVID-19 crisis has cost Cambodia $2.3 billion

In a major speech at the occasion of the inauguration of the Cambodia-China Stung Trang-Kroch Chhmar Friendship Bridge, PM Hun Sen has given a detailed overview of Cambodia’s current and future COVID-19 situation The PM stated stated that the COVID-19 crisis cost Cambodia about $ 2.3 billion and that Cambodia has been fighting COVID-19 for 20 months.

 

He hopes that the people will understand the procedures and strategies that he has put forward in the fight against COVID-19. The PM stated that as the leader of the nation, he could not allow the people to die without putting in place some necessary measures, despite criticism.

 

He added that there are many promised vaccines, but in the end, he decided to use China as a reference in the supply of vaccines. The Prime Minister confirmed that Cambodia used the national budget to buy 28 million doses of vaccine.
